First-year students from Hoa Binh University engage in international professional exchange with faculty from I.P. Pavlov First Saint Petersburg State Medical University, Russia.

On the morning of September 12 in Hanoi, new students from Hoa Binh University participated in an international professional development event hosted by I.P. Pavlov First Saint Petersburg State Medical University. This event was organized at the Russian House as part of ongoing international cooperation with partners from the Russian Federation.

An event titled “Career Choices – A Critical Decision in Life” was held for Vietnamese medical students, organized by the Russian Science and Culture Center in Hanoi in partnership with I.P. Pavlov First Saint Petersburg State Medical University. Key speakers included Mr. Andrey Borodenko, Deputy Director of the Russian Science and Culture Center; Dr. Sergey Anatolyevich Karpishchenko, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation; and Ms. Victoria Aleksandrovna Gavrilina, Deputy Head of the International Students Department at Pavlov Medical University. The delegation from Hoa Binh University comprised staff from the Admissions and Communications Office, faculty members from the Faculty of Medicine, and 20 first-year medical students.

During the event, first-year health sciences students from Hoa Binh University learned about the rich and enduring partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation. They were introduced to Russian cultural highlights, hospitality, and the future of the medical sector supported by modern technology. In his opening remarks, Dr. Sergey Anatolyevich Karpishchenko, Vice-Rector of Pavlov First Saint Petersburg State Medical University, inspired the students by discussing the Russian healthcare system, the noble mission of physicians, and sharing valuable experiences from generations of medical faculty and students in Saint Petersburg. He underscored the significance of medical ethics, the esteemed values of the profession, and instilled confidence in the medical field. Additionally, Dr. Sergey opened the conversation about the diverse career opportunities that await students after graduation, both in Vietnam and internationally.

Ms. Victoria Aleksandrovna Gavrilina highlighted programs available for Vietnamese students, focusing on the Otolaryngology specialization. Alongside academic exchange initiatives for students from Vietnamese universities, Pavlov Medical University is launching the “Anatomical Hermitage” exhibition project. This exhibition is set to take place in the fourth quarter of 2025, organized by Pavlov Medical University.

The session hosted by Pavlov Medical University, aimed at strengthening academic collaboration between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, allowed Vietnamese students, especially those from Hoa Binh University, to gain insights into traditions and career pathways in medicine. It highlighted the significance of career-focused education and professional decision-making. This event provided a platform for Vietnamese faculty and students to engage with Russian experts, supporting Vietnam’s efforts to enhance integration and the internationalization of higher education.

The international professional exchange wrapped up at 12:30 PM that day, creating a warm and friendly environment for faculty and students from the medical sectors of both Russia and Vietnam./.
