History of Hoa Binh University’s Development

Hoa Binh University was established according to Decision No. 244/QD-TTg dated February 28, 2008, by the Prime Minister of the Vietnamese Government. This marked a significant milestone in the creation of a multidisciplinary public educational institution with the mission of supplying human resources for the economy.

The main campus of Hoa Binh University is located at 8 Bui Xuan Phai Street, My Dinh 2 Urban Area, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi. This prime location is close to the stadium and My Dinh bus station, making it convenient for commuting and situated within the cluster of leading universities in Vietnam.

The 16-year journey of formation and development for Hoa Binh University is closely tied to perseverance, determination, and a commitment to educational innovation. The university aims to embody the educational philosophy of “Quality – Integration – Creativity.” Notably, since 2015, Hoa Binh University has become a member of Sovico Holdings Group, establishing strong ties with the business community. The university has signed contracts with strategic partners within the group, including HD Bank, Vietjet Air, Bac My An Tourism Company, Phu Long Real Estate Company, and Petechim Petroleum Trading Joint Stock Company. Its crucial mission is to provide high-quality human resources for the group. This pivotal step opens up new avenues for Hoa Binh University’s development.

Proudly contributing to educational and training activities, Hoa Binh University has become a reputable institution for undergraduate and postgraduate education, scientific research, application, and technology transfer. From its early days with only four functional units, two faculties, and one center, the university has now expanded significantly. It currently comprises 16 faculties offering master’s and bachelor’s programs in various fields, including Economics, Engineering, Fine Arts, Health Sciences, Languages, and Social Sciences. Additionally, there are five institutes dedicated to scientific research, international cooperation, and innovative education. The university has also invested in modern infrastructure, including well-equipped laboratories and facilities for health sciences education. Furthermore, the expansion of student enrollment aims to accommodate up to 5,000 learners.

Hoa Binh University has implemented policies to attract a high-quality faculty rich in experience. The total number of staff, lecturers, and employees at the university is nearly 400, with 1,8% Professors, 7,2% Associate Professors, 26,8% Doctors, 51,5% Masters, 10,7% Bachelors. This solid foundation enables the university to develop its fields of expertise, expand its training programs, and meet the quality assurance standards set by the Ministry of Education and Training, as well as the demanding requirements of society.

Over the past 16 years, Hoa Binh University has successfully trained 16 cohorts, with 12 of them having graduated, totaling nearly 10,000 students across various fields and educational levels. These graduates possess high levels of professional expertise and are readily employed by economic organizations and businesses.

To continuously improve and enhance the quality of education, affirm its reputation, and integrate globally, the university places great emphasis on quality assurance. In March 2018, Hoa Binh University received recognition from the National Center for Quality Assurance in Education (under the National University of Hanoi) for meeting national education quality standards. Additionally, in February 2024, the university was certified by the Quality Assurance Center of Vinh University for seven training programs, meeting the quality standards for higher education institutions during the 2023-2028 period.

The university’s scientific research activities have also been a focal point. With a team of highly qualified scientists, Hoa Binh University has successfully led and collaborated on numerous research projects at different levels. Over the past five years, the university has published over 400 scientific papers both domestically and internationally. The “Science and Technology Journal of Hoa Binh University” has been approved by the State Professorship Council and is included in the list of journals eligible for scoring academic works in the fields of Economics and Education as of July 2023.

International cooperation continues to expand, solidifying the university’s position in collaborative relationships related to education, research, and network development with over 100 organizations across four continents. The university actively participates in international conferences and facilitates faculty and student exchanges with partner universities.

In recent years, Hoa Binh University has also focused on fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among its students. Two student projects from Hoa Binh University received encouragement awards in the 6th edition of the “Entrepreneurial Ideas for Students” competition organized by the Ministry of Education and Training. These initiatives stimulate creative thinking and foster an entrepreneurial spirit among the university’s students.

The university also emphasizes extracurricular activities, aiming to equip students with essential skills and qualities for modern workers, including effective communication and teamwork.

Hoa Binh University’s core focus remains on being proactive, integrating globally, fostering creativity, and achieving efficiency. Consequently, the university’s communication efforts are practical and effective. In the first six months of 2024, the university’s communication activities reached approximately six million people across online and offline platforms.

The admissions process has undergone significant innovations, both in terms of personnel and operational methods. With events like Career Orientation Days and Admissions held at over 20 high schools across provinces such as Hung Yen, Nam Dinh, Hoa Binh, Hai Phong, Hai Duong, and Phu Tho, along with creative initiatives in the 2024 admissions work, the collective efforts and determination of all faculty and staff at Hoa Binh University promise a fruitful and even more successful season.
